At any one time, there are Service Providers who are coming
to the end of their scheduled projects, and are looking for
the “next job”. The Provider could be anywhere
in Canada, and you, the Buyer, could be in the same city or
across the country. This brings us to the next little secret
– there are pools of underutilized Service Providers,
in dozens of different locations across Canada, who are anxious
to find new business.
Underutilized resources mean not only lost profits, but often
additional costs in salaries and benefits. Most Providers
would rather bid aggressively to earn business than risk having
idle resources costing them money.
Additionally there is a geographic factor. When business seems
tight in Vancouver, there are often other opportunities for
Providers in Montreal and Toronto. Or conversely, if Providers
in Calgary are seemingly too busy to meet a Buyer’s
tight deadline, a Buyer may be able to meet their deadline
by using a Provider in Halifax.
The result is that when Buyers find pools of underutilized
Providers, it guarantees highly competitive bids and results
in cost savings to the Buyer - up to an additional 18% over
bids received in traditional sourcing methods.
